PHC4's Information Services department processes billing claims data using a sophisticated series of validation rules before it is finalized and made available for further analysis and public release.

Discharges for which Laboratory Data is to be Submitted

Hospitals are required to submit laboratory data for particular discharges as identified by a list of 35 Diseases, Procedures and Medical Conditions. Updates to the definitions of these categories are sometimes necessary since the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (i.e., CMS and NCHS/CDC) redefines MS-DRGs and ICD-10-CM/PCS codes periodically. It is recognized that laboratory data might not be available for all discharges on this list.

Special Note: Beginning with discharges on or after October 1, 2022, the submission of laboratory data is required only for patients ages 18 and older.
